Isaiah the Prophet

 Today in class for R.E I had to write and learn about Isaiah the prophet.  Here is my activity.

 Isaiah was born in the 8th century BC Judah. He is mostly known for predicting the birth of Jesus. Isaiah was said to live 700 years before the birth of Jesus. Born in Jerusalem, Israel, he was said to have found his calling as a prophet when he saw a vision in the year of King Uzziah's death. Isaiah prophesied the coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ. 

Uzziah's reign was 52 years in the middle of the 8th century BC. Isaiah must have begun his ministry a few years before Uzziah's death, probably in the 740s BC. Isaiah lived until the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah (not Isaiah) fourteenth year of king Hekeziah(who died 698 BC). He may have been contemporary for some years with Manasseh.

Emirates visit.

 

Emirates trip.

On Wednesday year 8-5 had a chance to visit the america World Cup(WC) we created and learned many different things. Here is my activity.

“GET UP! WERE GOING TO BE LATE!!” my sister anxiously yelled because today we were visiting the Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) Headquarters on the Auckland Viaduct.

I took my time getting out of my bed. I looked at her as if I didn't care but inside my heart was beating and I was getting angry at myself for waking up late, because I thought that this would be a good experience for me. Why? Because we would see different things that we have not seen before like, a colour coded robot that you can control . I got changed and my mum took us to get our lunch. 

We arrived at pak n save. My mum and my sister went in. They took about 18 min before finally coming out.  We got to school at 8:00 I thought the bus had gone but it turns out that the bus will arrive quarter past 8(8:15). I was getting angry(again) because it was already quarter to 9(8:45). I realised that we were separated into groups. Group A and Group B. When the Bus arrived we were split Group B went in one bus and Group A did the same.

On our way to our destination the bus driver played a lot of our favorite songs. His name was Garry. We arrived at the city  but we had to walk about 20 min to our destination. We met our tour guides. Group B (my group) were the first group to get a chance to go into the generation room. My group got a chance to control and do coding with these robots. My group also got a chance to race around a cardboard race course of the America world cup. Next it was morning tea after about 15 min. Before we moved on we were split into groups. My group's name was trixy because we trick people. 

Our tour guide had to sign in before letting us in. We were let in and as I stepped in I was amazed I was seeing the temperature in Rangitoto and how fast the wind was going, through the walls. What was really amazing was when we walked past the walls the wind cleared and moved around. We did many more activities like making a boat and seeing how fast it can go, and playing a game which gives you a vision of the real race course and you can actually control the boats. Once we finished all 7 activities we were let outside to get ready to go back to school. When we arrived at school I was just thoughtfully remembering all the things I did. My favourite part was when I felt like a real air bender and felt how free I was. My least favourite thing was controlling the robots because I always got frustrated when it wouldn't follow my command.

I would like to go back and experience more and learn how to make things in the future.

The birth of Jesus

In this scripture Luke 1 : 2- 20 Mary and Joseph go to Bethlehem because the child is in the line of David and try to find a house for them to stay.

Joseph went to the town of Nazareth to Galilee to Judea and then to the house of David because he belonged to the house and the line of David. 

Joseph went there to register Mary, who was pledged to Mary Joseph and bearing a child. Then the time came for the baby to be born the son of the most high, who will take the place of David and reign over Jacob's descendants forever.

There were shepherds caring for their flocks at night when suddenly an angel appeared and the power of God shone upon them. The shepherds were Petrified. The angel said to the three shepherds” Do not be afraid, I will bring great news that will cause Joy to you and your people. The angel carried on” Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born.  We know this because the angel said” This will be a sign for you, you will find a baby wrapped up in a manger.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

 

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,

    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,  and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.  But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

 

 

Today in class for maths I learned how to convert a fraction into a decimal and a decimal into a percentage. Here is my activity.

In the scripture Luke 39-56 Mary visits Elizabeth to find whether

At the time Mary anxiously got ready and hurried to a town in the hill

country of Judea.Once she entered Zecheriahs home she greeted Elizabeth.

When Mary greets Elizabeth, Elizabeth's baby leapt in her womb,

and Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Elizabeth then exclaimed in a loud voice: ‘’Blessed are you among

young women and blessed is the child you will bear!’’ Mary was

confused and said’’ But why am I so favoured, that the mother of my lord

should come to me?’’   Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and we

know this because, when Mary greeted Elizabeth the baby in her womb

leaped with Joy. 

Lastly in the scripture Elizabeth said ‘Blessed is she who has

# believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her!”

Squash Research

 

Term 4 2020 for P.E(Physical Education) we have been learning squash. Our coaches for the month are Jude and Ricardo .  Ricardo and Jude challenged us to research about squash and when they come back the following week we will tell them all of the information  we got. Here is my activity.

 

Today in my class and I challenged ourselves  to do a physical activity this activity is called the human knot. My class and I were split into 2 groups. Every group formed a circle then held others hands to make a knot. This activity was extremely hard even harder than I thought you had to try and untangle the knot without letting go of each others hands. My group was not organise and people were to shy to hold other peoples hands. At the end the whole class shared the problems that we had with this activity nd the good things. Here is my activity.

All souls day.

 On Monday 2nd of November I was awakened by my sister's hand to my face. I was not angry but excited because my class and I got a chance to go and visit Chelsea Sugar factory. I quickly and anxiously ironed my clothes and put them on. After about 30 minutes my sister and I ran out the house and hopped inside the car and rushed our mum to take us to school. 

After we dropped off I walked into class and realised that my friends were as excited as me (as expected). I noticed that my one friend was here, you're probably wondering so what's wrong? Well you see my friend usually never comes on Mondays but because he heard that we were going to the factory, he came.

Later on the bus finally arrived. I was the last person on so I had to sit at the very front. 25 minutes had passed and we arrived at this big pink FACTORY. My class and I were split into two groups: group one(orange group) and group two(pink group). My group and I were going to bake chocolate chip cookies while the other group was on a factory tour.

Our guide was Jo (female). I was apparently the only person who didn't cook at home. So I was a demonstrate but didn't mind.I was doing good until I was asked to have a taste of the vanilla essence. And because I was the only one who doesn't bake at home I stupidly drank a full spoon of it. Boy I regretted that. I could list what it tasted like but…Never mind arrgghh.

Later on we were taken on the factory floor where we met a lot of people and climbed a lot of stairs. After the factory tour my group and I went into the interactive zone to do a quiz. Whoever finishes first and has most of the questions wins a pen or a Chelsea Factory collar, the runner up wins a Chelsea factory pen. I won the pen and my friend won the collar. Soon after it was time for lunch. My friends and I ate lunch and played a little bit until it was time to leave. I would love to go there in the future and maybe even work there.

Wednesday 28th of October. I started a new maths activity tables torture, i firstly generated  a new activity at difficulty 3. Here is my activity.

Long weekends

 On Monday morning I was awakened by the sound of loud but soothing music. I got out of bed and realised that everyone in the house was up and going. I asked my older brother Sateki what's going on. He said that it was our sister's 18th birthday. I was surprised, then my mum called me and told me to get changed so I did while doing so I was eavesdropping and heard that it was also her dads birthday too. What made me cry was the fact her dad was not there to celebrate the time with her because he sadly passed away. We still wanted to celebrate it so we went to the cemetery and my siblings and I performed a heart warming song for him. We said our goodbyes and went to my house to celebrate my sisters birthday.

My mum and dad went to buy some food while my brothers and I set up a tent and tables for the food. By the time we finished my mum and dad were back with a lot of alcohol and 10 bags of a family pack of KFC. My mum was tired of waiting so told all of the kids to come and eat. I ate to my hearts content and when finished I was very very full. I asked if my cousins and I could go to the park so we did for about 30 minutes and came back to us playing games on our parents phones. I had a shower from all of the craziness and got ready to go to sleep for school. I got in bed, got all warm and cosy and then everyone outside started singing. I knew they were drunk because someone smashed all the bottles and tables outside. I finally got some sleep and woke up refreshed but still TIRED.

Today in class I was working on fractions. If you do not know yet fractions is something that you can divide into equal parts. I am learning how to use and understand fractions.  I also learned how simplify fractions. To simplify a fraction  you have to find a number to divide  evenly among  you friend and you.

Today my class and I had to write about a time where we were with our friends. Here is my activity.

Amihuti  Recount Writing Term 4 22nd October 2020

During the Christmas holidays on a Saturday morning I was awakened by a glimmer of sunlight that shone through the darkness. I remember words muddled up in my head because of how tired I was, I walked around the house to see if anyone was awake and as usual no one was. I quickly did what I had to do and watched a little bit of TV and then had a little sleep.

After 2hours of sleep I woke up to my brother's voice. I was so tired, I got out of bed and had a nice warm pie(ignoring my brother's words) the words… ran around in my head for a little while after I finished eating. I had all my energy and went to ask my brother what he said he told me and I immediately told him yes so I packed my clothes and left.

 Later On when we arrived at my friend's house they greeted me and let me in. I went to the living room and watched at least 3 or 4 scary movies and went to sleep again. I woke up and saw my friends playing on their x box one so I walked over to them, I watched them build an infinite building. 2 Long Hours  passed by and they finally finished. I got to play but I didn't know how to build fancy buildings like them so I just played NBA. I was called to eat but I felt dizzy so I skipped and went to sleep. 

I woke up feeling 90% better so my friends and I went to a nearby park and played for about 4 hours and went back to their house and each of us had a long shower. I finished changing and my cousin said to me “ hey do you want to go and play some you know games” I told him I feel tired but I could play for 1 hour or so. After playing games I went to the kitchen and ate some fried chicken and fries. I went to sleep because I still had at least 2 more weeks to sleep over.

THE END… not really(if you were wondering which room I slept in… I was really close to their nana so I would sleep in the spare bed in her room).

Maths(Tables Torture)

 Today for my maths starter I completed a tables torture  activity. In this activity I set up my own difficulty,(Up to difficulty 3) and then I generated my own grid for my tables torture activity. I have to be quick and had to get my fingers typing because I was also racing/challenging against a timer. Once i was finished I marked my work and then wrote a blog about it. One goal for this activity for me is to make sure that am re checking my work and slowing down. My time was 2 minutes and 23 seconds.

 What my school did today for practise. 

Today  my school took part in a shakeout drill.  At 9am a bell rang which alerted us to drop cover and hold. We stayed under the tables for 1 minute and when finished lined up getting ready to go outside. We did the usual role and the went back to class and carried on with our work.

  

Percentages, Fractions and decimals.

 WALT- Learn different types of percentages.

Today in class we learnt about percentages, fractions and decimals. Did you know that in the word percent cent means 100 or hundredths. You can compare percentages with amount of numbers e.g my phone is 50%. To turn a fraction into a decimal or a % because percentages are made out of hundredths you need to make sure that your decimals are also in the hundredths coloum.

Monday 10th October 2020

Today in class I have wrote a story about me being a mirror who has been stuck under water for 251 years. I am a mirror who belonged to a very handsome but young toa. One day young toa was down at the beach and doing a haka when suddenly there was a loud bang he fell, to the floor and I mistakenly fell out. My class did this for our inquiry topic and so we can learn old history. Here is my story...

It was just an ordinary day in the  world of darkness (or what you humans call bags). I suddenly saw a beam of light shine through the darkness and a humanoid figure pulled me out. He had pale white skin and had granny like hair. I was given to a brown handsome figure when I saw him. I thought of him as my brother because of how handsome we both looked. He was always moving and sometimes I would get squished but didn't mind because I felt warm. One day the air smelled……. Saltay .. saltly….. Aarrgghh huh?  Aww salty air which was new because I was used to smelling nothing inside the dark… bag. 

I heard him talking with different people which I was scared of just in case you know...I get passed on to some fat ugly figure who will look at me every MINUTE!. All of a sudden I heard a man call out something but I didn’t really hear anything. Suddenly my… brother like person ran and started doing a haka. All of a sudden there was a loud bang and my brother fell to the ground. When he did I was mistakenly dropped into the water and sank to the bottom of the reef. I spent day and night watching as the waves got bigger. One day a HUMONGOUS wave struck the land and carried me all the way to New Zealand. Trust me you don't want to know where I landed.

... FINE! I landed in a pile of cow patty right next to the Auckland Museum. I was found by one of the coworkers and taken in to see if I was valuable. I was recognized as the young toa who died… don't ask me why. I was then kept in the museum until finally set into a package and sent to St Pius x School which was exciting. When I arrived it took  room 5 4 weeks until finally I was taken out by a handsome young… sporty kid Amihuti

Maori Language day.

This afernoon(Monday 14 september) We practised for Moari language week. First we separated into our groups. There are 3 different activitys that we rotate to every afternoon.The activirys were weaving, creting a dance and singing.

 In my group we used news paper with tape raped around it to hold. I was absouloutley anxious because I was confused and then I turned irratated when we finished my teachers group sang a stunning song and we finished off the day and went home.

Today in class I finished off my Cook Island Art. I chose these patterns because I am not

a confident drawer. My class did Cook Island art because it was Cook Island Week. We copied

the style of an Cook Island Artist. Here is my activity.

Monday 3rd of August my class started on our Cook Island art.

Why? Well because it was Cook Island week. We started off by

coloring in a blank long piece of paper with different colors of pastels.

It took us two days to finish coloring in our papers.

When we were all done with coloring in the paper we were given

black paint to go over, the paper at least three times.

When finished we let it down to dry, but because of lock down our

work was postponed for a MONTH. Today is September 4th and

I finished scraping off the black paint with skewers. I didn't care what

patterns I did because I am not a confident drawer.

Plants in space.

WALT: Explain the challenges of growing plants in space.

Today in class  for the topic pants in space we learnt/wrote the challenges of growing plants in space. A new word I have learnt in this topic is photosynthesis. This word means that the plants have the ability to turn moist/water into food.

For this topic we worked in groups of five and each had an section/box to answer. I had top write down the challenges of having air in space. Here is our activity.
